I've got to say that onestar hotel in taipei is definitely one of the best value for money hotels you can get out there. Firstly, it is right in the heart of ximenting. This is an extremely lively and bustling area due to the younger crowd that gathers in this area and thus is extremely convenient for transportation (2 mins from metro station) and for food...you'll never go hungry in this location. food ranges from local street food all the way to very westernised cafes and even has 2 very modern cineplexes. with the convenience of the metro at your door step you can get to any of the main attractions in a jiffy. The hotel staff are probably one of the most polite that I have come across. No matter what time of the day, the minute you walk in you are greeted by the 2 staff that are on duty round the clock. To increase security, they even collect your keys before you leave the hotel and you can collect them when you come back from a day of touring around. They helped us with any inquiry we had and could even speak some english which made things alot easier since my mandarin is rather limited. The hotel is also very new and thus in extremely clean condition. Each room also comes with a massive LCD flat screen TV with over a hundred channels to choose from. The prices are extremely reasonable and it even comes with complimentary breakfast for every morning that you're a guest. For people who cannot live without checking their emails, there is a main computer at the lobby where internet usage is free. I guess the only few negative aspects of the hotel is that the walls are relatively thin, so if you're an early sleeper, or late riser, you might be awakened by your neighbours entering the room and talking or watching tv. another point is that half the rooms do not have windows...i was lucky enough to be given the corner room that looks straight out to the main road but the right side of the corridors all do not have windows...not for the clastrophobics. Overall, an extremely pleasant stay and I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to taipei, especially for the slightly more price conscious. Have a great stay!

"The Hotel was located in a great place. Rooms were clean. Only gripe i could have, would be because the room does not come with a window. Staff were pleasant and accomodating. Breakfast served was decent. This is good value for money. "

"Wonstar hotel is located right in Ximending & is pretty prominent to miss out as it is a building on its own. For those who aren't sure how to get there, by train would be best (exit 6 of Ximending station, turn right and go all the way straight, you'll see the infamous party world on your right, and eventually wonstar). The receptionists were all very friendly & polite. They would go an extra mile to answer your queries if you're not too sure about where to visit in Taipei. Also, in the hall they have a computer for tenant's use. As our room was upgraded at FOC to deluxe room, our toilet came with a jacuzzi bathtub, which is pretty spacious. Room size was acceptable and it came with a huge LCD TV with a wide selection of programmes! However, our room doesn't come with a window (I would advise not to as well since there wouldn't be much of a view) and part of the carpet was constantly wet as the aircon was leaking. Haven't tried the breakfast as food w/in ximending was much more attractive. Overall, quite a pleasant stay and I would very much like to extend my gratitude to all the helpful receptionists in Wonstar. Thanks! "

"The typhoon cut our stay short buy two days. We were there less than 20 hours. Therefore our evaluation is superficial. Is there any chance we could be reimbursed for the two nights we did not stay but pre-paid?"

"The Hotel was perfectly adequate, but the details on this site were of a completely different hotel! Thankfully the One Star is in a better location than advised, so if you don't mind being messed about for a few hours after a days travelling, this is for you."
