Wish I had read all the comments before making the booking. Now I share all the negative comments left by previous travelers. The hotel is very very old and surprised that the Asia rooms general description says it's the newest, unless of course the description was written 10 years ago. Rooms were very worn-out and much smaller than looked on the pictures. Bathroom was only standard in size and amenities were pathetic for Banyan Tree. Biggest disappointment was the Vertigo – view was great but that’s about it. Quality of food was a shame, don’t go for the Foi Gras and unless you like chewy steak stay away from that too. Oh one other thing: We booked the limo pick-up too directly with the hotel which cost 4-5 times of standard taxi fare but it was an old tiny Mercedes E class. So beware. Anyway if you are an experienced traveler with high expectations on Banyan Tree, this is a wrong pick.

4/5  Posted by MRS. RUGGINENTI, Rossella, Italy in September 2008
"It is a very nice hotel in terms of service, rooms, restaurants, but from a pure hestetic point of view, I thought it was better, especially considering that it is an institution in Asia. It has sad coulors, it looks like old, especially comparing it to other hotels in Bangkok which are even cheaper, cost even less and are much nicer. I don't have anything negative to say about this hotel, but making a comparisin towards other Thai hotels I visited, I preferred other ones. Regards"

"Staff's hospitality is very good! We enjoyed honeymoon!"

"The corridors to the rooms were poorly ventilated and did not provide a pleasant approach and departure from the room due to a musty odour. The room was a very good size and well equipped. Due to renovations the breakfast was shifted to another restaurant within the hotel and the breakfast service was split between different rooms. On one occasion as the breakfast area was full we were directed to the club lounge area on another level. Whilst the breakfast was adequate it doesnt match the quality of the Intercontinental in Bangkok where we have stayed before. The location is OK but not as well located as hotels closer to BTS stations"

"This was the second visit to the hotel. I cannot believe just how amazing it is. I booked two rooms for total of 5 guests and the hotel accomodated the three in one room with a roll-away bed. I had deluxe club rooms which included too much to add here but suffice to say that although I have travelled to and lived in many countries in the world, the BANYAN TREE in Bangkok is the best in the world of those I have visited and there are many 5 to 7 star hotels among them. For rooms, ammenities, attention to detail, restaurants, meals, services. (I had been un well and some flowers and a Get well card was delivered to my room and the Manager called several times to see If there was anything they could bring me) THE STAFF WERE SO SO NICE, THE THAI PEOPLE ARE JUST WONDERFUL. AMAZING! FABULOUS! OUTSTANDING! Thankyou all so much, Erin Honeman and family."
