This is my second stay at First House. The only reason was the price I paid. It is a place for the budget travelers. The location is good but a bit far from the sky train. If you have a group of 3 or 4 it is cheaper to travel by taxi than the sky train. The reception is not very friendly. There was a chap by the name of Mr Chai who was helpful. There was a lady in the restaurant who was very friendly and always had a lovely smile.
There is a money changer right in front of the hotel who gave the best rate in the area. In fact I did not see a better rate given by other money changers even in Pathaya.
This hotel is for budget travelers. Do not have too many hopes and expectations and your stay will be ok.
A word of thanks to the team at Asia Rooms.. Thank you for your prompt and excellent service. I will definitely do my reservations through you. All the best and keep up the good work.

| "Good location and value for money. However don't expect much from the room condition. Probably need some renovation but price might not be the same after the reno." |

| "Its my 2nd stay at this hotel for this year and the location is absolutely brilliant. Would recommend this hotel if you are coming to Bangkok for a shopping trip as Platinum Mall is just on the main road.
A better alternative is Bangkok City Inn which I stayed 1 night at. Similar price but that's more centrally located and is nearer to the BTS (tube) station.
My recommendation would be Bangkok City Inn. If that is full, this is definitely a worthwhile alternative.
Do take note that they require a 1000BHT deposit when you check in and this is only returned on check out. Works well too so you can still spend all your cash and shopping and have enough cash for the airport taxi :)" |

| "The hotel is ok overall. however, when we first enter the room, there's a smell and we had to get our own room freshener to get rid of that smell.. our toilet flush wasn't working when we first used it too.. we also had to wait for very long when we asked for toilet paper.
the hotel location is good as it's near platinum mall, and we didn't have to take a transport there. however, it's quite deep in which is a little dangerous when we walk back to the hotel at night.

| "My wife and I got a surprise when we checked into the room. We were told that we got an upgraded room as a "honeymoon suite"!
We stayed at the highest level at the new wing of the hotel, and it was definitely the biggest room from what we seen of the other rooms.
The room comes with a sort of mini-living room in addition to the bed area, so we had alot of spaces to unpack our belongings and "shopping achievements".
We had read some of the reviews posted here, and had some apprehensions upon seeing some bad ones, but the room was definitely clean and the staffs are friendly and approachable, which is totally unlike what we've read. Room cleaning service is good with constant towel changes.
A BIG plus point was the location of the hotel itself. The street leading to the main road is always lively every morning with street hawkers. A 7-11 store was just a few steps away. And Platinum Fashion Mall, Pantip Plaza was just opposite the main road outside. Pratunam Market is just a few steps down the road. The BTS and other major shopping malls like Siam Paragon, Centralworld, MBK are just within walking distance of about 15~20mins walk.
But on the downside, one issue is the air-con of the room. When we put it to low, it's still deemed to be too cold for us and the temperature is not adjustable. The noisy rumbling of the air-con compressor might seems quite irritating to some pple as well, but not too much of a problem with us. As our room is very close to the building beside (arm's reach), we can hear the raindrops very closely when it falls on the canvas cover next door.
Not much facilities and amenities of the hotel itself (though we didn't spend much time exploring), the breakfast is pretty much similar everyday, but can just spend a few days eating hotel breakfast as there're plenty of options along the street as alternatives.
The hotel does not allow 1-2 hours of late check-out (charging a late check-out fee of 600 THB for extension from 1pm to 6pm) but you can leave your luggage in a secured room at the lobby. Thus, we had to check-out by 12pm before resuming our last min shopping until 2pm when we leave for airport.
And the taxi counter outside asked for 600THB to the airport which can be negotiated. To save the hassle of carrying our luggage to hail a taxi from the main road, we just settled at 400THB. To hotel will be ard 305 THB (by meter including 50 THB airport surcharge and 25 THB toll) and back to airport should be ard 255 THB as no more surcharge.
Last but not least, the hotel can definitely improve by providing hot water kettles in the rooms as we had to buy our own 5 litre water from the 7-11. And provide hair-dryer as my wife's hair will take 1-2 hours to dry at night if she washes it. " |
