Hotel Review posted by Ian, United Kingdom in October 2005

As you move up the price range in this area of Bangkok, the price disparity with the West reduces gradually. Therefore a hotel costing $100 plus per night must be pretty special when you can find an excellent place for less than half that. The Landmark is pretty special; an imposing and impressive building situated right in the heart of Sukhumvit. Although not as good or as expensive as the nearby and newer JW Marriott or Sheraton Grand, diminishing returns in value mean that you should have little need to spend more than this. "The Huntsman" bar in the basement is an excellent source of good live music and fine if overpriced food. The Sunday lunchtime buffet is fantastic quality and value if you can put up with the grumpy ex pats. The Sky bar way up in the clouds is recommended for a drink only as the menu is limited. The swimming pool is too small for such a quality establishment but the sun deck can be quite charming. I've never bothered too much about hotel star ranking since getting your trousers pressed by Japanese speaking staff at 04.00 is of little use to me. I'd say this is probably four and a half. There are too many staff to count or tip and I'd recommend it. Oh yes, if you're keen on sampling the Sukhumvit nightlife you'll have no problem here.

| "I have stayed at this hotel many times over the last ten years and love the location. However, as well maintained as it is, it seems nothing has been replaced and the place is feeling worn.
Just a few simple things would change the feel of the rooms. Some newer, fresher designed bedspreads and/or carpeting, and a flatscreened, decent sized television would be a vast improvement. I wanted to watch an important sporting event and had to sit at the foot of the bed because the televisions look to be medium low quality, about ten years old, and quite small.
There is just no excuse to not update this well located hotel with great people who work there. It is a waste of a former gem in one of the great Sukhumvit locations.
For $20 per day more, you can do a lot better close by. It's too bad because I really want to love the Landmark like I used to." |

| "Great location and yet far enough from the action - minutes away to Nana BTS station on Sukhumvit Rd. Room was well-appointed and facilities of hotel are excellent. Service was very good and flexible to accomodate most requests. Great for business travellers. " |

| "We only stayed at the Landmark for a couple of nights but they were very memorable. We paid a little extra to stay on the Landmark club floors which allows access to the landmark executive club floor as well.
The room was great, service was excellent and facilities were of a very high standard. The snacks and free drinks available to Landmark club guests were well worth the small extra expense and the staff made us feel really welcome and relaxed.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to have a luxury base while taking on the hectic hedonism of Bangkok. The hotel is quite close to Lumpini market and Thai boxing market. I would also recommend having dinner at Vertigo or Sirocco to get a view of Bangkok by night." |
