Would I stay at this location
again:

Absolutely!
Although this hotel is a little frayed at the edges it certainly offers good value for money. The service was excellent and although the breakfast was more for eastern tastes it could not be faulted with the best fresh orange juice in the whole of our trip. The beds were really comfy and gave a good nights sleep. I have no hesitation in recomending this hotel to anybody.

"I had stayed for nine nights. I couldn't sleep at all first night because of the big sounds of hotel's pub .So I asked the reception to change my room. But in the room changed ,a lot of insects bit me all night long. More over ,One of the employees just stole $100 in my purse. I had $700 in my wallet. That was a mean trick. I never never never stay again at the RIVER KWAI HOTEl. If you want to stay this hotel, you NERVER leave you bag, wallet , purse which has some money.Whenever you step out of your room. I visited Thailand tenth. I really love this country. But RIVER KWAI HOTEL made me so sad."

"Perfect in center of the town, I enjoyed to walk around in the center and it only took about 35 minutes to walk to the bridge, which I did more than once. "

"Absolutely fantastic place to stay and definitely value for money. Certainly service is a little different here in the country to the likes of Bangkok, but you get what you pay for. Brilliant Cowboy Bar and restaurant at the front of the Hotel - fantastic band to listen to, eat and drink with! Wonderful happy people. Ideal for a place to sleep and have as a central location to go anywhere around Kanchanaburi. Grab a taxi/driver for the day to meet you and drive you wherever you want to go - best way to get around. Will definitely book via AsiaRooms again. While the hotel itself is a bit on the older side, it's the value for the place that is great for those who are not wanting to backpack around and not pay out the big bucks. Would book at this hotel if I was returning - definitely."

"Location is approxmately midway between the town centre/bus station, and the railway station. It's set back from the main road that runs through the town. There is a large illuminated sign out side, so it's rather difficult to miss. Reception area is nicely laid out, with a small seating area where newspapers are available to read, including the english version of the "Bangkok Post". Although little english appears to be spoken by the staff. The restaurant area is also nice, with a conservatory type extension allowing plenty of natural light into it. Unfortunatly that's where the majority of the good points end. Apart from breakfast, which has a wide selection of Asian or European foods. There is also a chef on hand, should you like your eggs scambled, poached, or made into an omlette. A selection of fillings for the omlettes, are also available. Breakfast is therefore highly recommended. Whilst the rooms are spacious, they are in desperate need of refurnishment. Lighting is adequate, but some of it can only be controlled by a wired control unit that sits by the bed. The bathroom is also in dire need of modernisation, with old style tap/shower controls (lift the plunger up to enjoy a shower). The tiles are a dull yellow colour, with what looks like the remains of black mould in-between. The shower curtain is PVC, and also showing signs of having enjoyed a better life I also noticed that the vacuum had missed the edges of the main room, leaving dust etc to collect there. Air conditioner works OK though. Remember that the hotel hosts a nightly disco for Kanchanaburi's teenagers, with music blasting out until the early hours. To sum it up in a nutshell. If the rooms were refurnished to the same standard as the restaurant, and kept as clean, it wouldn't be a bad place to stay. However the guesthouse, at the rear of the restaurant opposite, offers cleaner rooms at a cheaper price."
