| "fabulous hotel, excellent service. Went in October so really good price. Lovely huge main pool, enough sunbeds. Great restaurants and bars nearby. Taxis on taxi rank top road a rip-off, best to flag one down and haggle. Not a lot to do in Khaolak, ok when sunny, but when raining too far out to just go shopping, Phuket town 1.5 hours away. Don't go for beach villas - sunbeds for anyone right outside door, so no privacy. Garden villas perfect - good size, lovely bathroom and peaceful and private. We stayed in deluxe room, which was also nice, but would pay extra for garden villa. Great place." |

| "Enjoyed all facilities at hotel. Also wonderful staff.
Would not stay in Kelly Quarters again as on ground floor, dark etc.
Met your executive housekeeper Ann Soriano??, wonderful personality, friendly.
Looked at other types of accommodation and next stay will stay in Pearl Beds suites in Blocks N, O or P" |

| "My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it, would highly recomend staying here. The price is amazing for the quality of the resort. The resort was beautiful, spacious, lush gardens, large pool area, and service was good. The hotel is a far distance from the main shopping strip in Koh Lak (you need to catch a taxi and the hotel does not provide a free shuttle service). However there were enough restraunts and shops within walking distance. We hired a scooter to get around Koh Lak and traffic is easy to manage so this was a good way to see the area. The smile bar across the road from the hotel had a great atmosphere and was a nice way to end the night. " |

| "What a beautiful room! We stayed in a jacuzzi villa, it was fab. The beach front villas looked even better. Large rooms with a beautiful bed and an amazing bathroom with it's own private garden waterfall. The grounds were well kept and the staff couldn't have done more to help. Location was fine though we couldn't really locate a centre to Khoa Lak, no fault of the hotels though. Will definately go back." |

| "Lovely traditional Thai style resort with three sensational swimming pools. Excellent room; we stayed in a villa with it's own spa bath and outdoor garden shower. Very spacious and comfortable. Khao Lak is quiet during the low season and hence very few other people staying at the resort, therefore good for relaxation/romantic rendevous. Food and service above average. All round an excellent choice and good value for money." |

| "Everything perfect.
Of course, you need a car to out for diner in town where tou find good restaurants.
Only (BIG) problem: we stayed in a honeymoon beach view suite (No.8888) and through the 5 windows of the bathroom, everybody can look inside while you are nude washing, shaving,... you can forget to use your jakuzzi (directly against the big window) and looking outside. You have to keep all your curtains closed (same for the bedroom and saloon windows). What a pity to stay in the dark with no outside view just because of a very bad architecture. You stay in a very nice garden, beside the beach and the sea but you cannot enjoy it...
The rate was very good because we book via asiarooms. normal direct rate much more expensive." |

| "To round off my 5-week holiday (which included visiting friends and family in Thailand), I opted for a week of peace and quiet and found it at the Mukdara Resort in Khao Lak. I wanted a beachfront location and as I visited during the rainy season, I got a great deal on one of the honeymoon suites, which are the only villas on the beach (unless you want to splurge for the presidential suite, which has its own pool). The Mukdara is a gorgeous resort with lovely and very well maintained landscaping and with a very large main pool in the gardens and another large pool on the beach (used by most of the guests, leaving the main pool practically unused). The honeymoon suite is lovely, the bathroom has large jacuzzi with a great view of the beach. There is a separate rain shower and a separate toilet and two large his-and-hers wash basins .
The staff was very friendly (in the beach restaurant and at the front desk) and very helpful. Breakfast choices are plentiful, and although the Thai food is good (albeit a little pricey by Thai standards, but by European standards still inexpensive), the number of choices were a little disappointing and seemed to be outnumbered by European cuisine choices. The few guests present were mostly German, which might explain why the restaurant staff often played the same German Schlager CD -- a music choice that I feel does not befit a 4-5 * resort and does not make the non-German guests feel welcome. I would have opted for no music at all. You don't need that kind of distraction with the lovely beach right in front of you!
I also treated myself to several spa treatments during my stay (easy enough to do, given the 40% low season discount) and thoroughly enjoyed being pampered by professionals.
If you choose to stay at the Mukdara for more than a couple of days, I would recommend renting a motorbike (hotel reception). This will broaden your choices of restaurants and you can drop off your laundry at one of the places on the main road. There are plenty of 7-11s on the main road and you'll find a reasonable selection of restaurants, shops, tailors in the main village.
If you seek bright lights and night life, you're better off in Phuket, but if you enjoy tranquillity in a lovely setting, then you'll be happy at the Mukdara!
