| "My family and I had a wonderful stay at Khao Lak Orchid Beach Resort!! It is truly one of the hidden secrets of this entire area. We found it nessesary to have a car to get around but the reception was more than helpful to get you a taxi cheap is you would like. The pool and beach are superb and the service is excellent. We were the only people staying as it was low season and felt taken care of and at home the entire stay, the staff even played with my little brother when he was bored. The hotel is located far from the towns and right on the beach. We were sceptic to staying so close to the beach after the tsunami but we were informed that the hotel is bulid to withstand a tsunami and if the alarm sounds you can move up to the third floor and be safe. | "Nice looking beach front resort, very isolated (15 mn drive to khaolak center at 100 baht one way per person, Khaolak center is where you can find few restaurants and stores), abslolutly nothing around, you feel trapped. Because of the tsunami, lots of places were closed, the beach has been cleaned up but you can see the damage it caused. No installation on the beach and no shade (hard you have a kid), you better stay at the swimming pool which is nice enough but desappointing if you are beach people. The hotel is recent. Big, clean and well appointed family suite (2 bedrooms suite with terrace). Limited selection of dishes available at the restaurant and not that good, it could be because of the low season (only 2 or 3 rooms occupied) and the unhelpful waitress keep staring at you while eating. Breakfast is basic and could also be better. Poor english speaking." |
