| "This is a nice and comfortable hotel, and all the staff are really friendly. I also like the Colonial style building.
I have also stayed in a nearby Sheraton Krabi for the first couple of nights during my trip to Krabi. I can draw a bit of comparison between the two hotels. The beach at Sheraton is much nicer and you walk to the beach straight from the hotel. The beach at Sofitel is quite a dissapointment, and also you have to cross the street to go to the beach. Both Sofitel and Sheraton are located at Klong Muang Beach, which are quite far away from Ao Nang and Krabi Town. Sofitel only provides shuttle service to Ao Nang (at a cost). Whereas, Sheraton provides two shuttle services to both Ao Nang and Krabi Town (at a cost). Sheraton has a slightly better location because there are restaurants nearby the hotel, whereas Sofitel is totally secluded. You can also book package tour of Krabi at both hotels. However, I have found out that the tour package in Sofitel is far more expensive as compared to Sheraton (although both hotels use the same local tour operator). I have booked a package to Phi Phi islands tour for 1,800 baht per person in Sheraton; and when I wanted to book another tour during my stay in Sofitel, I found out Sofitel charged 2,200 baht for the same phi phi islands tour and other tour package are also more expensive than Sheraton.
Overall, Sofitel is a nice hotel, but I think they are other better options in Krabi." |

| "We loved it here! The pool was so big that I was exhausted swimming from one end to the other. I think the claim of biggest pool in Thailand can easily be substantiated! The beach is a little average, but we didn't see any reason to leave the pool. The staff were attentive, kind and polite and the variety of food and cocktails available was very pleasing. The town of Ao Nang was a 30 minute bus ride away but the resort provided regular shuttles to and from the town so as we could indulge our shopping pleasures. I would highly recommend this hotel for honeymooners, very relaxing." |

| "Overall, the property is beautiful. The pool is beyond belief, it that is your bag. The room was great, service was fair (restaurant service not great, bellboy unreachable for bag pick up). Prices for all add-ons such as meals, drinks, etc are extremely inflated.
The biggest disadvantage of this property is location. It is in the middle of nowhere and is separated from the beach/ocean by a road with heavy truck traffic. If you want to go and lay by the pool and enjoy the beauty of the property without leaving, this place is for you. If you are like us and want to walk off site, explore, eat out, etc without a long car trip then you should stay elsewhere.
The Railay Bay resort is set in a beautiful bay, reachable only by boat, with a quaint little Bohemian village around it. Try that if you want a little more interest in your immediate surroundings. Plus, like the lonely planet book says, the sunsets there are truly divine." |

| "Having come from Le Mirridien in kho Lak, this was most definitely a step down!!!!!!! Nice architecture but miles from anywhere. They are promoting this area as the posh part of Krabi, but I don't get it. It has a quarry at the end of the road and trucks to and fro all day and at night also; they say the contract is ending for the quarry, but I wouldn't hold my breath! When you are at the pool, you are separated from the beach by a road - this is the road the trucks use and it is really noisy! The beach is not great and has nothing to do on it other than what the hotel provides (kayaks). It is a fair walk to the nearest restaurants and bars which is hampered further by the lack of pavement (remember the trucks) we sat outside the nearby Indian restaurant and had the worst meal of our 1 month stay in Thailand. Food was poor and the trucks trying to climb the hill ended any chance of a conversation. The Sheraton is the nearest hotel and looks better located right on the beach - there is a beach restaurant next to it also which is great for watching the sunset and food 1st class. We had rented a car which made our trips out easy; I would not have liked to be there without any means of getting around although there are long boat taxis and a payable hotel shuttle bus. On the plus side, the rooms are nice, the breakfast buffet vast and the staff good with the exception of Una at breakfast (doesn't treat fellow Thais very respectfully). The lobby is great and they are in the middle of building a golf course next door. I think it will be a nice location in years to come. If visiting, use the internet service near Paddy's Irish bar (called Seaview and on the corner I think) as the service is great, computers fast enough and they will organize well priced boat trips for you also. The girl's father and brother do the boat trips and are very knowledgeable & professional - they pick you up on the beach outside the hotel. Hong Island is nearby and well worth a visit. There is a great restaurant called Casa just 2 shops up from the internet place also. There was a party of 200 French there when we stayed and they were really nice in comparison to the miserable Germans we experienced in kho Lak. Not many Brits! Hotel internet, pool drinks etc are extortionate (we got 2 cocktails which were disgusting and cost Ģ7) I think they should reduce their prices and guests may spend more time and money there. Gardens OK but because it is new, the trees are not very established. Some water features would help with the ambiance and help shield the noise of the trucks. We wouldn't go back to this hotel, but Krabi is a gorgeous location. Take a trip to tiger cave (no tiger, only a supposed foot print) and watch the friendliest monkeys ever; you can also do a short jungle walk to see where the monks live in the shadow of the mountain. Not far from here is a resort called Phanom Bencha Mountain Resort. We drove here for lunch and were blown away with the location. Bungalows are close to nature, views and gardens spectacular and the food top notch. The part owner (Jules) knows everything about the area, and the cost of a bungalow is something like Ģ12 per night - quite a difference to the Sofitel and the location far superior." |

| "The hotel was really nice. The hotel welcome my honeymoon with rose petals on bed, bath water with roses, free cake and fruits with no extra charge This made us very happy. I would say this hotel has everything you are looking for in a luxury hotel. There are few selection of restaurants, massage palor and shopping outlets (close to the Sheraton) nearby. However, if you want more selection, you would need to go to the main area. The hotel is a bit far away from the town, it takes 20 mins by motorbike(250~300 baht /day). However, the hotel is really peaceful and you would have a lovely time if you just want to chill out. This hotel is recently built, so everything is new and well maintained. The swimming pool was wonderful and big. The beach across the street is a bit far but very clean and there are no visitors so you could have a lot of privacy.
When we were booking hotels, we were torn between Sheraton and Sofitel. After visiting Sheraton for an afternoon tea, we were happy we made the right choice. It takes 30 mins to get to Sofitel from airport. You can use hotel limo 1300 baht or airport limo 700 baht.
We are satisfied with our room. Although I find the room is a bit small for the price we paid (133 usd including b/f, tax and s/c), but the balcony made up the difference. The bathroom comes with a shower and a tub. We felt the shower was not designed well and water would came out everytime we use it. If you are travelling with small children or elders, maybe you should be careful or ask for different room. Other than this, everything is wonderful. We enjoyed the morning buffet breakfast. My husband sometimes need to make the business call in the evening, so the hotel gym becomes a nice place to work out. The hotel has a nice kids play ground. If you are traveling with kids, they would love it. " |

| "The Hotel Sofitel is a very nice and a Huge 5 star property, but the problem is the location it comes to be very expensive to stay in this hotel as there is nothing outside hotel and for everything you have to go to Ao nang beach as all the eateries joint are there only. the beach in front of the hotel is not nice cannot swim in it.
The hotel Doesnt Claims to be 5 star and doesnt even provide a DVD player in the room and if you want ask for 500 baht a day if you wanna go to ao nang hotel charges you 150 baht per person for its shuttle which is also on particular timmings 4 times day. the staff is very good the rooms are very good spacious and nice, the hotel runs for yourself because there are not too many people staying." |

| "The main point: They are no beach, the beach is out of the hotel and quite dirty.
The swimming poll is very nice but it is not the sea.
The decoration is poor for a brand new high class hotel.
You will be far from everything in this hotel." |

| "We stayed two nights at the Sofitel Krabi to relax after the long flight from Germany to Thailand. As it was the rain season, there was nearly nobody else as a guest, so we felt as if we had the place for us alone. We loved the hotel, especially the pool, which is so hugh I have never seen anything else before. But there were two negative things which have to be told for others: the hotel is not at the beach !!! There is a big road between the hotel and the beach and the beach itself is nothing to be mentioned. It is small, dirty and you look on a cement factory, which is not a nice view. There is nothing attracting around the hotel. This was rather disappointing. Second there was always loud music at the pool area and in the restaurant so after some time I was a bit fed up of it as I prefer listening to nature. So, after all, I did not regret having stayed here, but I was lucky, that we didnīt stay longer then two nights." |
