| "Staff were polite and helpful however we booked a queen size bed and would have been happy with a double but they only had 2 single bed rooms so wasn't very impressed as was travelling with my girlfiend. Breakfast was fairly average and there were lots of mosquitos as hotel backed onto the rainforest. Location was great and the rooms were nice and clean." |

| "Sunrise Tropical Resort was recommended to me by a friend more than two years ago. She raved about the resort and it has been on my shortlist right from the very beginning, however, I was rather concerned about some of the bad reviews that I read prior to booking the resort. It was Asiarooms that helped me make up my mind to give the resort a try as the rates were reasonable. Certainly lower than the published rates elsewhere.
Armed with my booking, I made my way to the resort at the end of February 2008. It was considered high season and there were some travellers at the Railay area, but it was not too crowded.
Upon checking into the resort, we were offered our welcome drinks. We had booked the villa plus and it came with an outdoor shower and a veranda. There was plenty of room to move about and rest. The room came complete with a dressing area, a bay window and a day bed. There were many windows in the room and we could decide on how much light we wanted to let into the room. The whole area was kept really clean.
Location wise, Sunrise is great. While it was on the less picturesque East and from the map, it looked as if I was going to take forever to get to Railway West. There is actually a proper foot path and it takes less than 5 mins to arrive at Railay West.
The service staff at Sunrise were polite and they do their best to ensure you have a comfortable stay.
All in all, I had a great trip and if there was anything I didn't like about the place, it has to be the mediocre breakfast and Railay being more expensive than Ao Nang, otherwise, I highly recommend this resort if you are looking for a holiday simply to relax and chill." |

| "Excellent value for the price. The service was probably best we had anywhere in Thailand, with the staff extremely friendly. The room itself was lovely and large. Only downside was probably the bathroom. It had an outdoor shower which only had cold water, and the bath was hard to manage because the water temp kept changing. The hotel is on the poorer side of Railay but it is only 5 mins to walk over to the other side." |

| "The rooms were large, clean and tidy, the hotel itself was well designed but the customer service was non-existent. I booked through Asia-Rooms but then contacted the hotel directly by email as I was concerned by a previous review suggesting credit card details wouldn't be safe at this place. They insisted they would need my credit card (even though I'd already paid for the room) which left a bad taste. On check-in they didn't ask for it at all so my email contact had wound me up unnecessarily!
They had overbooked so we had to move rooms, they then gave us a twin instead of the double we booked. All this was done in a very dismissive way - I didn't feel they cared about our custom AT ALL.
The worst staff worked in the restaurant. We ate there a few times and were amazed at how sullen they were.
The smell in some areas of the hotel was truly awful - raw sewage would be the best description. This is due to being so close to the water so there is very little that can be done about it.
Railay East is not a very pleasant area, lots of rubbish and very run down, I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

| "This is my 2nd time my girlfriend and I stay in Sunrise Tropical. We love this hotel so much no matter the location, services, environment and the bungalow. Especially the bungalow is surrounded by the tropical greenary. The outdoor shower is awesome!! Must try!!!" |

| "I stayed at a Villa Plus and the room was large, clean, and very nice. The bathroom and outdoor shower were great. For the money I thought it was a great value.
Service was mediocre. I was welcomed when I arrived with a juice drink which was a nice touch. The woman at the desk was nice and very friendly but it was sometimes difficult to communicate with her in English. Service at the restaurant (and actually all the restaurants at Railay) was poor to mediocre and not all that friendly at Sunset. However, one of the bulbs in my room was broken and they came and fixed it right away so that was great.
I agree with many of the reviewers that the East beach is not great but my cottage was a nice getaway from the crowd and is not that far away from the West beach. However, the walk was not that pleasant as you walk by lots of garbage and some sewer smells at least when I was there.
If you don't mind the location and want a nice room, Sunset is a good place to stay.

| "Location is facing Railay East and not Railay West as I had thought. However, it is still a very nice resort. The facilities and exterior may not seem much, but the rooms are nice and clean, with good maintenance. A little pricey though for budget travellers but in my opinion, a nice resort for getaways. Not too impressed with the food though. Had better elsewhere. " |
