Staff was excellent, the place was uncrowded with private rooms surrounded by lots of foliage. A little far to walk to the beach and main strip but motorized taxi's are cheap and everywhere. One complaint is Entering and exiting the pool is difficult as there is no stairway.

| "We had a very enjoyable stay at the cliff resort during the low season in early June. On first impression we were a little bit disapointed with the overall size of the room for this standard of hotel. However, once settled in we came to enjoy the quaintness and reletive seclusion the cliff had to offer. Excellent service, could not fault the breakfast and in general a good place to stay if you want to relax away from the hassel of Ao Nang.
As for Ao Nang itself, not really a place I would consider, definately not during the high season, a bit too touristy for our liking. Although a good location to learn to Scuba, with plenty of dive sites a short boat trip away.

| "The Cliff was definitely NOT a disapointment (as many hotels that only look good from the Internet are). In fact, my boyfriend and I had a pleasurable surprise! We were surprised by its details to attention and its 5-star standard for a very affordable price! Amenities such as 3-piece towel set, robe, full Toiletries set, slippers, extra beach towels are all competitive with a Sheraton, for example. Its outdoor-'resortish' concept of a bathroom in nature, and breakfast served outside of your room are both unique and commendable. The breakfast is so value-for-money. Reading a book by the poolside, facing a mountain as the landscape ends up our pleasurable stay at The Cliff. I recommend it to anyone who is out for a value-for-money stay at Krabi. *Just don't expect the room size to match a 5-star*" |

| "My wife and I stayed at The Cliff a month ago on a week long holiday in Krabi. We enjoyed the setting and found The Cliff to be a rustic hideout.
The rooms are not as small as some reviews would lead you to believe. If you're packing light (as you should on a beach holiday!) and not lugging around huge suitcases, you'll be fine.
The bathroom is an interesting concept and a novelty. We did not have any untoward experiences with neighbours using the loo at the same time as us or any critter jump out at us.
We did have a resident toad (we named him Herbert!) who we never saw but did hear at regular intervals every evening. We found it a little distracting at first(especially at 4am) and told the front desk, who did try looking for 'him' but to no avail. After that we simply thought of him as an on-site pet!
The resort is not a sprawling area but for those looking for a boutique hotel type atmosphere, this is a good choice. There is a small pool suitable more for a dip and frolick rather than actual swimming. There are a limited number of sun loungers but if you're spending most of your time on the beach, it doesnt really matter.
The Thai food at the resort was not the best we had, if you're looking for authentic Thai food, you're better off at other restaurants. We found the food to be watered down to suit the Western palate which was not what we wanted.
I recommend the Golden Beach Resort on Ao Nang beach for an authentic, SPICY tom yum, easily the best we've had.
Breakfast was a good spread and you can choose what you'd like, served at your doorstep on the patio, the night before.
The one thing I would definitely suggest is mosquito repellent. If there was one complaint we had, it would be about the mosquitoes. They really can be an uncomfortable nuisance if you dont slap on some repellent or have a mosquito coil going. The room does come equipped with a small bottle of repellent as well as an electronic mosquito coil so that helps. I'd suggest one in the bathroom too!
The Ao Nang beach is nothing to shout about, the beaches at Rai Lay and Phra Nang are a little better and only a short 15minute long tail boat ride away. We took a boat out to Bamboo island which was absolutely breathtaking with white sand and crystal clear water. Perfect for a laid back day with a book, some snorkeling and a picnic.
All in all, it was a wonderful stay at the Cliff with friendly, helpful staff and a charming, rustic setting. We'd definitely go back.

| "This is a lovely small boutique resort, on a busy street but once u enter the resort, feel like oasis, very friendly n helpful staff. The room too small for many luggages, bed is comfortable. Pool cleanliness good but not enough sunbeds. Breakfast is excellent, nice serving outside the room but table too small. Good n nice experience with outdoor restroom, its cool but not very private n too much mosquitoes. Location is good, walking distance to beach n shops n restaurants. Slightly over priced." |

| "Was a very enjoyable stay. Notable points:
Service: excellent. The most friendly, responsive and fast service we have had at any hotel. Great proactive hotel staff.
Food: very good kitchen with tasty offerings.
Location: conveniently-located to access the main area (eateries, bars, etc.) at Ao Nang.
Pool: small but enjoyable, with a nice setting.
Not well suited for families with infants. The outdoor bathroom can be difficult when changing nappies... also invites insects, mosquitoes (against which the hotel staff actively fumigates)." |
