| "This hotel has seen its better days. The facilities have not been upgraded with time. The elevator is a cramped three person space. The mattress did not provide support at the two sides. To avoid getting a backache you had to sleep in the center.
Breakfast was pre-cooked and depending when you got there, the eggs were rubbery. The lighting in the rooms and hallway was poor.
The hotel shuttle bus charge from the hotel to the bus terminal was significantly more than the tuk tuk ride from the bus terminal to the hotel. Since no tuk tuks or taxis are available at the hotel, you have no other choice but to use the hotel shuttle bus." |

| "The Pailyn Hotel in the city of Phitsanoluk. Was the first of several, “less than great picks”. Which I might add had all been touted as the supposedly best choice as the place to lay ones head down for the night.
With many years of hotel industry experience, I think it is necessary to speak to the inadequacies I encountered. Primarily this is because the rating given this hotel, in the Lonely Planet, as a “Top End location”, together with several reviews from users on Asiarooms.com,, the website I used for booking the room, were miles apart from what I encountered.
Upon entering the hotel, one is first greeted by a very old, dark, and outdated looking lobby. There was no parking at the hotel; rather it was across the street in a local Wats’ parking area. I will say the staff generally was OK, with the bellman being the “service star” of the operation.
The first room shown, allegedly a deluxe class, (which I had paid for), had a bed so hard you would have done better sleeping on a slab of concrete, and a very old television set, and stark bathroom. I complained about the mattress, and pointed out the other issues, reminding them I had paid Bt. 1100 for a deluxe room.
We were then moved down the hall, about five doors down, same floor, to a better room, which was at initial appearance much better. To signify the "deluxe" status there wasa colorful Thai Fabric sashes draped across the foot of the beds, and a softer mattresses which highlighted this upgrade, but it ended there.
I might add, we got the same room on return, and the “Patio glass door” which was dirty the first time, was still dirty when we came back and were given the same room again a week later. This is unacceptable, and indicates management is not checking rooms.
I need to mention that the breakfast, included with the price of the room, was another full measure of this hotel's lack of quality. The buffet had cold food, unattractively displayed, a poor selection etc. etc. etc.
Clearly it will not be a choice on a future trip." |

| "This hotel was absolutely a bargain. Room is very spacious, clean, new fluffy towels, staff are friendly and they offer pick up from the bus station for 50B (cheaper than getting on tuk tuk). " |

| "Outdated hotel. Need some refurbishment. The staff could be more friendly and helpful. The room was not okay: the AC hardly functioned. It was so quiet in the breakfast room that we had to look for personel. Better go somewhere else!" |

| "Stayed in the hotel for 2 days before travelling north. Location wise very close to the night market and food festival which is held over english and thai new year (december and april respectively). Overall the hotel provided basic accommodation and is in need of a refurb. On my return i stayed in the Topland Plaza which is a newer hotel in Phitsanulok. Amenties and room where better, (tea and coffee making facilities/ clean bathroom), swimming pool, outside terrace. And next door to only shopping complex in the city. I would recommend the Topland Plaza above the Pailyn hotel" |

| "Great room, great bed (king size for a single person). The first day the room was perfectly clean. However, on the second day I found little bugs swarming over the glass I had used in the bathroom. Nevertheless, I would stay there again." |

| "for price - its ok.. you get a clean room with four white walls etc, your typical hotel room - breakfast is good and the people are nice but have english difficulties, had issues with the phone card sold to me, so had to get a refund for it, and then paid for internet use, and it didnt work, so had to get refund for that.. im sure they fixed it by now... but it was strange the facilities they offered with a smile just didnt work... i wouldnt eat at the restraunt - the prawns smells and tasted old and the everything was so greasy... but if you want a nice room and nice breaky - its not a bad choice!" |
