Amari Coral is one of my favourite hotel and this had been my second stay here. All the rooms have great sea views and you could even hear the waves while you sleep. The standard of breakfast seems to have gone down but is still good. One only complaint is the price of the tuk tuk to drive you out. It used to be 100 baht but now it had increased to 150-200 bahts. The price is ridiculous as it is almost 4-5 times more expensive than Bangkok. It is possible to walk down from the hotel but a lot tougher to walk back as you need to walk up a slope. The hotel should provide some form of transport to Patong but I suspect the hotel gets a cut from allowing the tuk tuk to drive in.
Overall, it was a good stay. The service was good and prompt. Do book the hotel early (1 month in advance) as it is often fully booked.

| "ALTHOUGH THE VIEW FROM THE ROOM WAS OVER THE BAY AND ALL ROOMS LOOK OVER THE BAY, THE ROOMS ARE SMALL AND QUAINT. BREAKFAST WAS FANTASTIC, GREAT FOOD. STAIRS TO AND FROM OUR ROOM WERE A KILLER ON THE THIGHS, GOOD LUCK TO ANYONE WHO IS NOT REAL FIT. LOCATION WAS GOOD. RESTAURANTS A LITTLE PRICEY. DOWN THE ROAD YOU COULD PAY LESS FOR THE SAME QUALITY AND QUANTITY. OVERALL NICE STAY BUT WILL NOT GO BACK, THINK ITS TOO $$$$ FOR WHAT YOU GET REALLY. OH! THERE IS AN ELEVATOR BUT IT WAS OUT OF ORDER.....!!!" |

| "It was an overall pleasant staying experience at the Amari Coral Beach Resort. The service staff were attentive, the rooms clean and spacious, the breakfast was quite good. Although the bathroom was clean (but small), the bath towels were stained. However, we got replacement towels promptly. The pool is a tad small but clean and nice. About a 10-15min leisure stroll to the main Patong drag which is good for those who want to get away from the crowded Patong area." |

| "Our stay in the hotel was most enjoyable. On the whole it can't be faulted, and really the two biggest things we didn't like were no fault of the hotel staff:
1) Stairs. Lots of them. The hotel is built onto a hill, so it's no good for anyone who has trouble with stairs. We are in our mid 20's and even we found the climbing pretty tiring.
In defence of the hotel they do have lifts/elevators, but these don't cover the whole site - some of the facilities and rooms are only accessible via stairs.
2) Taxi/Tuk-Tuk serice at the hotel.
Very bizzarely the price is always 200 Baht to go anywhere in town.
Not only is this an expensive rate, but it also doesn't matter whether you just want to go to the bottom of the hill (2 mins) or right into the centre.
There is a one-way traffic system all the way around Patong - so you can understand why they would charge you if they have to cover the distance anyway.
But to charge you to pop down the hill and back at the full rate (never entering the one way system) is ridiculous.
(You'll understand what i mean when you get there)
My feeling is that the hotel management could have done a little bit more to negotiate with the taxi drivers on this point. Or here's a novel idea: Why not lay on a shuttle bus!!!
Despite the negative points above, everything else was absolutely perfect. I would recommend this hotel to friends." |

| "The view on arrival and our first drink at the bar, overlooking the bay,was the perfect start to our stay.
Excellent hotel in a fantastic location,overlooking Patong Bay.Only 5 minute walk to the centre of Patong Bay,but well worth it for the views from the hotel.Staff were very friendly and helpful.Breakfast was always something to look forward too.Two pool areas that were always clean,both with views over the bay.Treat yourself to the La Gritta restaurant on the final night,the perfect way to end your holiday.We will definitely stay at the Amari again.
