"My wife and I recently (Aug 08) stayed at the Kata Thani beach resort for 6 nights in a Junior suite, our time there was fantastic, we had a problem with the lock on the sliding door to the balcony on our arrival but it was fixed by the time we had come back from our first swim in one of the many pools. It was a great location being right on the beach of Kata Noi, it felt like our own private beach. We ate once in the hotel which had very nice food, though a little expensive but you expect that from a 5 star hotel, there are some very nice restaurants a short walk from the hotel at a much more resonable price. Breakfast at the hotel was always good and every morning the food was prepared differently so you wouldn't bet bored eating the same food every day. The hotel is about 10-15 mins walk (up hill) from Kata town so that can be alittle annoying at times but you can always catch a taxi or tuk tuk, just don't forget to barter for a better price as i think the drivers take advantage of the situation by being located out of Kata. After visiting Patong on a couple of occassions at night we were glad we stayed well away from there, Kata was much quieter and we didn't get hassled as much from the shop owners etc. I would certainly recommend this hotel if you're happy to be out of Patong Beach area and staying right on the beach and a nice one at that, was a bonus. The hotel staff were always friendly and helpful. I would stay here again if i was planning to stay in the Kata area of Phuket."

| "We had a fantastic holiday at the hotel and we have already referd it to everyone we have spoke to regarding Phuket.
We have stayed in alot of places all around the globe and for the price we could not falt the Katathani at all, from the lovely grounds and pools to the private and quiet location with a clean beach not like some sorounding beaches.
We sampled all the resort resturants and they where pleasing.
We reserched the Katathani as my wife was 6+ months pregnant the reviews where very helpful and most Normal people had given it top marks and the ones that dident are very hard to please. some of the comments where plain stupid.
Again if your normal you will enjoy your time there we loved every day.

Lots of things to do at the hotel.

"Thani wing of this hotel the best location of all hotels seen on our holiday - Patong, Karon, Kata and Kata Noi. Being basically right on the beach - building, 30 m of lawns and palms, then beach - we enjoyed the Anderman Sea views and sounds of waves breaking on the beach from drawing curtains at fist light (sometimes a bit later) to closing up at end of day. Service first class and staff, whilst under pressure from the usual riff-raff, were wonderful even although their command of English at times required hand signals. Also being on a no through road, no noisy traffic and pleasant to go for a walk. A good selection of local eateries and delies (711's)across the road at somewhere half way between local and 5 star prices - dinner and a couple of local beers set you back about $10 - $12, local beer at delie about $1.30 for a 640ml bottle. Go back??, tomorrow if I can find a sponsor!! "

"This was our second visit to the Katathani over the last couple of years and we were pleased with the renovations to the Bhurri Wing of the hotel. Check in was a dream and the position of the room was great. They had remembered our 20th anniversary and had the bed layed out with elephants and swans(not real!... towels made into the shape of!) and decorated the bed with rose petals. Complete with a fruit basket and anniversary cake. It was a perfect welcome. The breakfasts had improved when we thought there was no room for improvement and the staff were as happy and smiley as ever. We found a new friend in Sutjai (No. 82) massage lady who appart from giving great massages went out of her way to shop for the elephant bags that the massage ladies carry for us to take home. She was sweet and very generous with her time and an expert at massage. We love the location of the Katathani being just 25 mins south of Patong but far enough away from the hussle and bussle of town. There are enough restaurants within walking distance of the Katathani so we did not eat at the hotel other than breakfast and the kids had room service one night which they rated the best chicken pad thai on tour! We cannot recommend this hotel enough and will definitely return when travelling through Phuket."

"Very disappointed, we stayed there for 5 days. Breakfast with many flying insects, and breakfast not re-fill, bad, nothing can eat. Environment is quite good, but be careful many decoration around swimming pool may hurt you, and bad smell come from around swimming pool, so you can smell some bad smell when you are swimming. Room is too samll and old, very very old, not a new resort, so many things are old. It doesn't worth it, I paid this price that I could stay in many kinds of hotel/resort in Phuket."
