We had a great stay here and really enjoyed the amazing view from out balcony. It's definitely worth the room upgrade to get one with a view. You can see all of Kata Bay while sipping beers on the balcony. The breakfast is pretty tasty, including an omelet station. Staff were really helpful and spoke English well. The only negatives are that the rooms are a little on the small side, and there are a serious amount of stairs to deal with. It makes going back to the room for anything a bit daunting.

| "On our first day, we were kinda disapointed at its location, because it seemed that it was way too quiet and too far from everything. But it turned out that we were wrong. The beach was just 3 min. walk away, and the stores were at about 5-6 mins. walk distance. Breakfast was good and the room facility was satisfactable, but most of all, staffs were very kind and I really enjoyed my staying there. Just one thing, the resort has lots of stairs to the rooms, so if you don't want to walk a lot, you'd better find other resort. Other than that, it was great resort. " |

| "I booked an standart room. Must say this room are realy standart, better let me say comparable to the face of the Hotel from outside under standart.
The bathroom on the poolside are in an better condition as in the room. The bathroom have to be urgently renovated. Also the toilet are smeeling and not clean for us. The terrasse door are like an cottage door.
Good points on the hotel are the pool side and the breakfast. Very difficult also the starecase.
I used the hotel for an business trip. But its definatly not an business hotel.

| "We came from Singapore for a short get away trip and stayed 5 days, 4 nights at the hotel in a standard room, which, if you'd asked me, pretty much represents a 200 to 300 SD room on Bintan Island, but costs only one quarter of it. The room had the right size for a couple, was clean and offered all comfort one would expect from a hotel like this (TV with 54 channels, mini bar, balcony with great view etc.) The bath room was also as clean and spacey as expected. No roaches, no rubbish, no filthy shower or toilet or the like. The Thai hospitality was as outstanding as always; they simply know how to treat guest very well. Breakfast is from 7 to 10 but they won't clear the tables if you dare to stay a little longer to enjoy your morning coffee.
The hotel facility, except for the reception, is located hillside thus one has to climb a considerable number of stairs to get to one's room. The entire area is quite hilly anyway.
The place seems to be favored by Scandinavians, Russians and Germans who usually like to occupy the pool area from 10 am to 5 pm. But there is still enough room for a more or less refreshing swim if you chose to go for it in the morning as the water usually gets extremely warm in the afternoon.
It only takes around 5 minutes to walk to the beach that made a pretty ok impression on me. I admit that I am not keen to spend my time at a sandy place with almost no shadow and quite number of people who all trying to get tanned hence I cannot comment any further: in short beach looks ok, clean, decent.
One word for all of those who like to party: if you chose Kata beach to have tequila all night and trying to get lucky, you will find yourselves being in the wrong place. This place is for families with kids and couples alike who want to enjoy themselves in quietness and peace. Ok, I am sure, if you want to get drunk and get laid, there are always ways to it.
However, despite being quite remotely located, Kata beach offers a supermarket, lots of restaurants, pharmacy, seven eleven, (decent) massage places, internet café, car and motorbike rentals etc. Best food is catered by Kata mama at the very end of the beach and around 5 min away from the hotel, cheap and good. Just asked to get to the beach the quickest way possible und you won’t miss it. The food is catered to the taste of Caucasian guests though. If you need your tom jam to be hot, you have to ask for it. And do me a favor: burger and fries you can get at home everyday, in Thailand try the local food please.
To cut a long story short: very recommendable. Enjoy your stay.

| "We intended to book a reasonably priced hotel that was more than just a place to sleep for our 4-day stay -- we wanted to relax and be comfortable after 2 weeks in Bangkok. We got what we wanted and more; the atmosphere was relaxing, the service friendly and efficient. We could easily walk to Kata beach, shops, and restaurants.
The bathroom was a bit strange to us -- The shower curtain enclosed only tile floor, no tub or lip, so when showering the whole floor got wet. Then we would track water onto the tile bedroom floor (the bath mat helped some though). Also the shower head was one big stream, no spray.
The only other glitch in our happiness was the first night when the bed was so hard we couldn't sleep. In the morning we discovered that they hadn't put a mattress on top of the box spring!? We reported our displeasure to guest services and when we returned that night the bed had a comfortable foam mattress. Problem solved.
The breakfast buffet (included) was quite varied and the food and service were excellent. A Thai woman played beautiful music on a stringed instrument in the lobby each morning and there was live music on the terrace most evenings. The pool area is quite comfortable and well landscaped and the water warm. The view from our balcony of the beaches was specatular. The steps to the rooms might be a bit much for older folks. We would definitely stay there again." |

| "This is our second stay at the Orchidacea and i would return again. It is in a great location between Kata and Kata Noi beach. The food in the restaurant is excellent and if you happen to be there on a Tuesday night, i would definately recommend you have a meal in the restaurant and have the entertainment of their Thai Elvis. He is great! The rooms are spacious and very clean. If you get a room on a high floor, you do get a lovely view of Kata beach. But i will warn you, there are a lot of steps to the high floor rooms but it's worth it!! I only made it up for brakfast once, but there is a lot of choice and it's very tasty. The pool is lovely and there is a pool bar/cafe which is very reasonable." |
