"The place is a little run down, but ok. The location is really "off". You have to take a taxi if you want to see something else. The hotel has a minibus that goes to Ban Chang twice a day, no charge"

"Loin de Rayong mais bon rapport qualité/prix. Accès à la mer pas évident à marée haute"

"We enjoyed our return visit and found things to be more generally well presented without any loss of charm and atmosphere. Our only constructive criticism would be the shortage of sun shades around the pool and the rather poor state of the existing few. We will be happy to return in the future."

"Our first room allocation was down at the beach annexe - the smell from drains (or worse!)discharging into the ocean at night was very noticable. We found out that this was well known by the ex-pats there ... We changed rooms up into the main Hotel building. Our original rooms air-con was very, very poor - the replacement room wasn't very much better, but it at least held it's own against the high night temperatures. The hotel was almost empty most of our stay, so the breakfast was not very varied, and the milk set out was UHT (or something - not a good taste anyway). Staff were all extremely helpful, esp. the elder chef who did eggs at breakfast, and our dining room Maitre D. I did have a run in with the desk staff when I rented a 50cc bike for "a day" - she claimed that "a day" was only 12 hours, and tried to take back the keys after the bike had been parked overnight (6pm to 6am...!!) and so that took some sorting out. The rooms were a bit run down, lights not working in some sockets, and the shower jet in the tubs would always run off the edges of the tub and onto the floors, making the floors totally flooded - took some arranging of the shower curtains to prevent this, but it was annoying and could have been prevented with proper handyman work. The location is very good - a nice breeze is always blowing through the lobby, and the ocean views are lovely. There are good eating places nearby, although we had very bad service the one night we tried to dine in the hotel, however this was on our first visit to this hotel in 2004, and we didn't dare try in-house dining on this trip. The best feature of this hotel was the stunning Spa Service - well above average here - and this made my wife and I feel better about returning to this hotel. Overall, it is a typically frayed infrastructure that is cost-cutting to fight falling occupancy rates - they do their best and the prices reflect the lack of 'brand new and shiny'... Fair value for money in a good location, just don't accept rooms down in the beach annexe."

"very nice hotel, could do with some paint in places. friendly staff. its isolated so you would need a taxi to go anywhere really. beach is good for shell collecting but not the cleanest. plenty of dogs roaming on beach. food was good, breakfast varied .rooms smart with nice balconies. ideal for romantics. "The Hotel in general is OK. However the baby cot is not really good as the matress is very thin and blanket for the baby cot was also not provided. suggestion: give better matress for the baby cot and provide blanket."

"If your after that quiet weekend away from the hussle and bussle of Bangkok then this is the place for you. Nice pool and perfect views from the balcony. The staff are helpful and really try to understand you! We are going back at least once a month from now on."

"Nice place on the beach, nice pool, but location is a bit of a way from anything a tourist might want to do (unless they want to lay by the pool). But hotel is nice, good price, people are nice, and I love the dogs who live in the bushes!"

"The hotel was wonderful. The rooms were large, the facilities were very clean, the people were very friendly and the food at the restaurant was ok and moderately priced. The problem was that the beaches were dangerous for our small children. Broken glass, rusted metal, medical bottles, plastic and trash were floating in from the water and littered all over the beach. What a shame that a beautiful hotel sits on such a filthy beach. The second problem is that the hotel is very far from anything and the cost to hire a taxi or driver from the hotel is very expensive. In fact they were charging more to drive my family to the nearby town than what it cost us to drive to Rayong from Bangkok. Since we were a family with two small children, the hotel served our needs as long as we stayed away from the beach and spent our days swimming in their very clean swimming pool and avoided looking east at the large petrol refinery which was a bit of a shock to see when it doesn't show up on any of the tourist maps. Overall the hotel is fantastic, but the environment is not. "
