What a wonderful place! Have stayed at the Rayong Resort 5 times now. Staff are absolutely great, food is good although a little pricey. Have stayed in Superior rooms, Jnr Beach Suites and the Jnr Suites. Superior rooms and jnr Beach were good. I was a little disappointed with the Jnr Suite. Although it was big enough to hold a ball in, the balcony was very small in comparison to the other rooms we have stayed in ( probably about 2x2 metres)
The hotel is not popular with Western tourists but appears to be used more as a convention centre by the "locals". Have often been by the beautiful pool on our own and had the pick of around 30 sun loungers.
Two beaches, one is not suitable for swimming though as the beach is very rocky. The other is great.
Only draw back is that it is remote and you could be on site for the duration of your stay, which can make it a bit expensive. However if you work on the staff that shouldn't be a problem. We got a lift to the local Makro one year so that we could buy our own beer to drink at a fraction of the hotel price. We were even told they were happy for us to drink it in the bar area!!!!
On the occasions we have been we have always been offered a free sunset cruise around Koh Samet on the hotels own boat. Cannot comment as to how nice it was as in 5 years we've been it never sailed at sunset( the sea was too choppy!)
