Clipsal 500 V8 Supercar

The Clipsal 500 V8 Supercar, Adelaide, commonly known as the Adelaide 500, or Clipsal 500, is an annual racing carnival for touring cars. It is held at the east end of Adelaide, as a miniature of the Adelaide Street Circuit, the former track of the Australian Grand Prix. The Clipsal 500 V8 Supercar is named after the sponsor, Clipsal Electronics. Usually held over four days in early March, the primary event is the 500 km V8 Supercar race that is split over the last two days of the event. The remaining four days are filled with practice, qualifying and support races for other categories.

The crowd gathers at the Clipsal 500 V8 Supercar, Adelaide - usually over 200,000 people over four days. It is a common feature for the attendance of a particular year to set a record for the next. The Clipsal 500 V8 Supercar also features a concert every night, including air displays, amusements and social attractions that bring in spectators from Adelaide, interstate and overseas. Every year from 1999 to 2004, the Clipsal 500 V8 Supercar won the best event of the series. In 2005, it was inducted in the V8 Supercars Australia Hall of Fame, the first time for an individual event.
