Mt Lofty Summit, Adelaide is one of the greatest sightseeing spots in Australia. Situated 727 metres above sea level Mt Lofty Summit is the Everest of Adelaide. This magnificent mountain offers spectacular views of the city.

Mt Lofty Summit, Adelaide is the highest peak closest to Adelaide and in the Mount Lofty Ranges. Explorer Collet Barker was the first to put his foot on the spectacular mountain in April 1831, which is almost seven years before Adelaide was settled. Matthew Flinders named it on his travel to Australia in 1802. During the World War II Mt Lofty Summit was closed for the visitors when the obelisk was considered an essential navigation assistant. Climb to Mt Lofty Summit and you will get a bird's eye view of the spectacular city, the Gulf, Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island. You will enjoy from sunrise to sunset from this place. The night looks especially from here. From sunset to the panorama of the galaxy of city lights burning defiantly against the inky blackness of the ocean beyond, it is simply superb. You will feel that you are out of this world. Many tourists come here to enjoy the awesome flora of the summit. Besides adventure lovers can enjoy bush walking, hiking and trekking here. This is becoming a popular spot for tourists to Adelaide and also for bike riders coming up the old freeway. On the ridge near the summit are the television transmission towers for the Adelaide television stations, and the Mount Lofty Fire Tower operated by the Country Fire Service. Getting to Mt Lofty Summit, Adelaide is not difficult. You can take the roads from the South Eastern Freeway at Crafers, or from the Eastern suburbs via Greenhill Road to reach the summit. Visitors with strong legs can walk up the gully from Waterfall Gully, in the Cleland Conservation Park or from Chambers Gully.
