Adelaide Convention Centre

Located in the CBD of Adelaide, the Adelaide Convention Centre is adjacent to the picturesque River Torrens and the adjoining parklands. It was completed in the year 2002, and has, since then, been a striking highlight of the city, with the suspended wall made of glass. Already the Adelaide Convention Centre has transformed into something of an icon of the city, a major reason behind it being the $ 76 million expansion. An outstanding feature of the Adelaide Convention Centre is the elliptical glass façade that overlooks the River Torrens. It varies up to 18 meters in height and 180 meters in length.

A large convention center, the Adelaide Convention Centre is on the center of the North Terrace, although construction commenced by the turn of 2001. This futuristic center was unveiled in the city of Adelaide. The rational cooking system of the Adelaide Convention Centre is the largest to be built within any convention center in the world. It is equipped to serve a total of 4000 dinners within a period of 20 minutes. The main Plenary Hall of the Adelaide Convention Centre can house up to a total of 3500 people in a full convention mode. It is also home to most conventions in Adelaide and has a beautiful view of the Torrens Lake.

The glass façade was designed by Kingswood Aluminum to provide engineering advice and to cooperate with the requirements of the city's social as well as cultural necessities. The main glass wall is suspended from the roof structure by means of an innovative rod suspension system which lends full support to its weight. The requirement to withstand vertical wind movement results in a differential wind movement joint between the glass wall itself and the structure at the base of the wall that is neither visually intrusive nor vulnerable to water leakage.
