Adelaide International Airport
Australia - Adelaide - Brisbane - Alice Springs - Cairns - Canberra - Darwin - Gold Coast - Hobart - Melbourne - Newcastle - Perth - Port Douglas - Launceston - Sydney - Townsville
Inaugurated on February 16, 1955, the Adelaide International Airport was started to replace the Parafield Airport as the city's main airport. Today, passenger flights operate from a state-of-the-art dual international/domestic terminal that was opened in 2005. The Adelaide International Airport was redeveloped in 2005 for $260 million on account of its limited capacity and a lack of aerobridges. The new terminal was inaugurated on October 7, 2005 by the Prime Minister John Howard and South Australian Premier Mike Rann. The new airport terminal measures about 900 meters in length and can handle 27 aircraft simultaneously processing 3000 passengers per hour.
The terminal of the Adelaide International Airport comprises amenity public and airline lounges, user check-in desks and shop fronts. Free wireless internet facility is also provided. As the prime gateway to South Australia, the Adelaide International Airport through its upgraded facilities is focused on providing more than 5 million passengers annually with efficient, comfortable and world-class services. To most of the visitors to Adelaide, the International Airport is the first taste of Australia. The Adelaide International Airport seeks to blend South Australia's Mediterranean lifestyle and cosmopolitan lifestyle with its flair for hi-tech business facilities.
