Adelaide Tram Service

Australia - Adelaide - Brisbane - Alice Springs - Cairns - Canberra - Darwin - Gold Coast - Hobart - Melbourne - Newcastle - Perth - Port Douglas - Launceston - Sydney - Townsville
On account of the fertile topography of Adelaide, it is a city of the means of extensive transportation which is why horse trams worked well here. The modern version of the horse tram is the Adelaide Tram which was originally opened in 1929. The Adelaide Tram Service is 10.8 km long. The City to Bay tram runs from downtown Adelaide to the Glenelg Beach. It is the only tram remaining in South Australia. The Adelaide Glenelg Tram runs from the heart of the city to the suburb, Glenelg. It plies at an interval of 20 minutes and is integrated into the Adelaide Metro public transport network.

Once an extensive tram network, the Adelaide Tram Service has condensed into being a single line between the Victoria Square in the Adelaide CBD and Mosley Square on the Glenelg Beach. The distance is all of 12 kms. The Adelaide Tram line lies on the roadway on the city from the terminus to South Terrace and to Brighton Road in Glenelg. A majority of the Adelaide Tram line is located on the corridor of the western suburbs. The Glenelg Tramline is a Go-Zone which guarantees a 15 minutes service frequency between 7.30 am and 6.30 pm Monday to Friday and 30 minutes at night and on weekends and public holidays.

There are plans to extend the line from Victoria Square to the Adelaide Railway Station and further ahead to the University SA City West Campus on North Terrace and give it an entirely new dimension. The Glenelg Tramline, an integrated part of the Adelaide Metro, has refurbished the H-class trams to operate as restricted heritage vehicles on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. They have been capacitated with safety measures like those that are found in new trams, including vigilance control and electromagnetic track brakes.
