The South Australia Museum, Adelaide was founded in the year 1856 and is one of the biggest museums of the city. Located in North Parklands, this fabulous museum consists of a large number of buildings spread across a huge area. The entire museum consists of six floors. Some of the major sections of the museum includes the Egyptian Room, Australian Aboriginal and Pacific Collection, Origin Energy Fossil Gallery, Discovery Centre and others.
Visitors can come to the South Australia Museum in Adelaide and take a look the 40000-year-old megafauna fossils or marvel at the 120 million years old opalised fossils. You can also take a look at the 550 million years old chordate fossils, an Ediacaran fossil. Besides these, one can take a look at the fine examples of ancient Egyptian paintings or check out the handicrafts and other works of art of the aboriginals of South Australia. If you have fascination for plants and animals, then you can check out the huge collection of eggs, nests and skeletons of different kinds of birds in their science section. You can also take a look at the documents like journals, photographs, drawings, papers and maps in the archive section to learn more about the history and culture of the country.

The museum complex houses a café from where you can get refreshments and also a shop from where one can buy a large number of souvenirs and other articles.
