The Flinders Street Baptist Church, Adelaide was built in the year 1861 after a group of Christians joined hands to set up a Baptist church exclusively for the city. In fact, the foundation stone of the church was laid down in that year, and after eighteen months, the building was fully constructed.
The interiors of the Flinders Baptist Church are simply astounding. The walls of the church are adorned with a number of plaques which highlight the services rendered towards the church and sacrifices made by them during the times of war. There is a gallery inside the church. This structure was added in the year 1873 in order to improve the quality of the acoustics. The gallery also houses a huge pipe organ built in the year 1886 and renovated and rebuilt in the year 1996. Additions were made to the church building in the year 1877.
