Sleep Hills, Adelaide quarries has interpretive walking trails which have been set up in collaboration with the Department of Mines and Energy. You will get to see amazing ripple-marked surfaces on the rocks that have been protected. You will also notice large-scale folds on the rocks. All these changes in the metamorphosis of the rocks reflect the intensity of the forces which deformed the rocks nearly 500 million years ago. So it's worth a watch because you will rarely get to see such kinds of rocks. Open woodland with scattered shrubs, herbs and grasses are the native vegetation of Sleeps Valley. Eucalypts and drooping sheoaks dominate the region. You will get to see the grey box with dark grey, rough-textured bark along with a few smooth, pale-stemmed South Australian blue gums here. The golden wattle, graceful native apricot and semi-parasitic native cherry are the other smaller native trees that are spread throughout the woodland. The small native plants specially grow in the region adjacent to Hill Street and Mead Street which are the ends of the walking trials. You will get to see beautiful shrubs like kangaroo thorn, Christmas bush, hopbush, bush pea, native lilac and golden guinea' flowers, as well as tussocks of native kangaroo grass and wallaby grass here. The region is filled with small lilies during spring and it's really worth watching. Sundews, native bluebells, the scarlet running postman and parsley fern are the other flowers found in the Sleeps Hill.
