Stokes Beach Bar

Australia - Adelaide - Brisbane - Alice Springs - Cairns - Canberra - Darwin - Gold Coast - Hobart - Melbourne - Newcastle - Perth - Port Douglas - Launceston - Sydney - Townsville
The Stokes Beach Bar, Adelaide seems to be built for the "champagne moment" when the sun dips into the horizon at the end of another perfect day in Kangaroo Island that is located 112 kms southwest of the South Australian capital city. Intriguingly, the beach can be accessed only through a maze of headland boulders. Once you are through, however, the Stokes Beach opens into a treasure-trove of soft white sand. The craggy cliffs protect the place against a chilly southerly wind while the crystal clear waters lap in a natural rock pool. This is a place that is a quiet getaway from the usual tourist haunts of South Australia.

The Stokes Beach Bar is located in an unhurried part of the world with the facility of alfresco dining at the nearby Rock Pool café which is the final order for that perfect day. The Stokes Beach Bar remains open for the hours between sunrise and sunset seven days of the week. Located at the North Coast Bay, the Stokes Beach Bar precinct has been done up for tourists with a bar to cater to their necessities. The bar stands adjacent to a number of restaurants and a nearby food court. The weekends at the Stokes Beach are craft markets during the dry season.

The Australian Pearling Exhibition that takes place during summer in the Stokes Beach Bar has excellent displays of the region's pearl diving history. There is the Indo-Pacific Marine aquarium in the vicinity that highlights a number of small tanks showing various ocean ecosystems. The huge coral reef tank with reef fish is excellent. Then there are the oil storage tunnels which were dug deep into the cliff during WWII to protect fuel supplies from the Japanese bomb raids. All in all, the Stokes Beach Bar, Adelaide is a must-visit, being the ultimate in seclusion.
