Tracing the popularity graph of The Alice Springs Cup Carnival, one definitely has to acknowledge that it has come a long way from dusty beginnings to its current position as a significant event on the Australian Horse Racing Calendar. Punters from across the world make their way to Pioneer Park Racecourse, Alice Springs (venue for the event) to be a part of this 3 week horse racing event, which features four feature unique race days over a period of 21 days, with each week promoted under a different theme. The event reaches an acme as it draws to its end with events such as a Thoroughbred Yearling Sale, a glamorous Black Tie Ball, (to be held in the new Alice Springs Convention Centre for the first time), and two feature days of racing, including the XXXX Gold Alice Springs Cup held in the last week of the Carnival. Another highlight of Alice Springs Cup Carnival (horse racing) is Young Guns Day, where revelers mix and mingle in the party marquee with live music, games and loads of prizes. The Carnival has thoughtfully incorporated A Ladies Day as well, which gives the socialites to flaunt their finery, while lunching in The Pavilion overlooking the magnificent MacDonnell Ranges. The Carnival also features a Family Fun Day, which is based on fairground theme for the kids who can enjoy merry-go-rounds, jumping castles, face painting and prizes. An entry fee is applicable, though it is hardly a deterrent for the patrons.
