Henley on Todd Regatta
An annual event in the Australian town ship of Alice Springs, held in the month of September is called Henley-on-Todd Regatta which is actually a "dry" sand river race. This is also termed as the Todd River Race. Begun as a jest at the expense of the formal atmosphere of the British river races and the original British settlers, it has been continuing for years.

At every year around September, in the beautiful time of the spring, Alice Springs celebrates a mock regatta for which a great numbers of tourists and locals flock at this beautiful town. During the gala time, there are foods and drinks being sold at stalls. You will find "no fishing" signs put up, and undoubtedly the celebration a big hit.

"It's the only dry river regatta in the world; thus, it's the only regatta ever canceled because it rained and there was water in the river."

Boats are consisted of metal frames and hung with advertisements and banners, and rowers run their boats in races through the hot sand. Races can also be seen in washtubs, human-sized mouse wheels and at the final event, personalized trucks adorned as boats are driven by teams equipped with water cannon and flour bombs.
