The Residency
The Residency in Alice Springs is one of the best attractions of this Australian town ship. The personas that had been here include Queen Elizabeth, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles and Princess of Wales. The Residency is one of the town's most significant heritage buildings. Being renovated as the new home for Heritage Alice Springs (HAS), this construction is also preserving the history of Alice Springs. The local people are even thinking of setting up a museum to depict the development of the town.

Domenico Pecorari, the President of HAS, wants The Residency to be the central position for a general history of Alice Springs. The Residency is situated next to the Post Office and adjacent to the Old Court House. Erection of the original structure began in 1926 for the home and headquarters of the government representative. John Cawood was the first and only government representative.

In order to allow site works to take place, The Residency has been closed for the last eighteen months. The building consisted of a middle masonry core with a large enclosed balcony and a separate kitchen.

In addition, Heritage Alice Springs intends to provide the building with 1960's decoration. Exhibitions and functions for locals and visitors will be held from time to time and The Residency will be open on a daily basis.
