The 2high festival is one such important festival in the annual Brisbane Calendar. 2high Festival or rather Backbone's 2high Festival is an annual cultural festival of Brisbane in Australia. The 2high Festival, Brisbane is known for the fabulous cultural performances put up by the young artists of the city. The 2high Festival in Brisbane is a unique combination of music, dance and other art performances that one should not miss out. ‘Two High', is a term used in circuses. When one acrobat stands on top of another acrobat, it is called a ‘Two High'. The festival serves as a platform to people who want to make a career in event management or build a career using their talents. In this festival, these people get an opportunity to show their skills and expertise and interact with top industrialist in order to get an opportunity to make a career in their chosen field. This festival was established in 1994 to provide management opportunities for young professionals in the field of arts. It was created nationally and a model was developed so that young women between the age of 18 and 25 can be mentored. The festival has been held for the past 12 years through five directors. It has attracted more than 1000 participants and remains a key component of Backbone's annual artistic program and a highlight on the Queensland events calendar. The theme of the 2006 Festival was “Fly Free�. The theme reflects the freedom of the event. The festival is a unique experience that allows young participants to showcase their innovativeness and experimental work in Queensland's premier professional performance venue. The 2006 event also saw a launch event for the festival as well as an opening for the visual arts exhibition in keeping with the commitment of the festival to showcase the work of emerging artists. The coordinators of the festival are supported by mentors from a number of Brisbane's creative industries such as Brisbane Powerhouse, QUT Art Museum and Queensland Theatre Company.
