The place, which is just a 45 to 50 minutes drive away, is considered to be the “Queenslands' Friendliest Rural Destination�. Every year the tavern houses the Bearded Dragon Annual Canetoad Festival; the festival is extremely popular amongst the denizens of Brisbane as well as those of the rest of the country. The festival is especially a delight for every animal lover as the event showcases some of the rare animal species.

The tavern is renowned for its reptiles and every week in the tavern various reptile shows are held for the entertainment of the visitors. During the annual festival, which is held in the month December, Bearded Dragon showcases some amazing animal shows and other attractions. Some of the animal shows that you can enjoy during the festival are Canetoad Ball, Amateur Pet Reptile & Snake Competition and Live Canetoad Collections. A crocodile and Reptile Show and exhibition are also held and you can also buy memento of the festival from the souvenir shops. The money earned from the festival is used for charitable purposes; the proceeds of the festival go to the Tamborine Mountain Landcare, Rural Firebrigades and wildlife care funds.
