This annual event was first celebrated in the year 1993, since then the event has developed into a mega event and today it attracts about 30,000 spectators from all over the country. The venue of the celebrations is the South Bank Parklands, where numerous activities, concerts and programs are held to celebrate the auspicious festival of Christmas. During the festival the whole area is delightfully decorated. A canopy of glowing white lighting is suspended in the Little Stanley Street, which is situated in near vicinity of the South Bank. You can also visit the South Bank's bougainvillea covered arbor, which is embellished with Christmas-themed lights.

Activities during the festival are numerous; you can enjoy fresco screenings of big movies on the Cultural Forecourt or enjoy shopping, dining and drinking in the nearby shopping complexes, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. There are special arrangements for kids, they can learn how to swing dance, ride the Ferris Wheel or see the glowing Rainbow Tree. The Rainbow tree is a major attraction of the festival; it is the most recognizable tree in the city and every year it is decorated brilliantly with lights. Other attractions of the festival include roving entertainment and nightly fireworks displays.

The festival continues from the beginning of December to the beginning of January. The festivities begin from 6 pm every evening and continue till midnight. No entry fee is required to enjoy this annual event, in order to enjoy the event; you just need to have an appetite for unlimited fun and joy.
