If you want to feel the good old charm of a hall in a modern multiplex; you should then visit Southbank Cinema in Brisbane. The Southbank Cinema in Brisbane closed in early 2003 but the end of December saw the theatre again opening with a new look. The cinema hall since then has been screening all the top international movies at a reasonable price. This revamped multiplex now boasts of having a 25 meter cinemascope screen which is the largest screen in Brisbane.

The multiplex has five auditoriums namely: Cinema 1, Cinema 2, Cinema 3, Cinema 4 and Cinema 5.

The Cinema 1 still maintains the original décor as it was when Southbank Cinema in Brisbane closed down in the starting of 2003. The red and black velvet décor make this cinema look really classy. The seats are arranged like stadium seats. To be more precise, the seats are arranged on a slope with the first row leveled at the ground level. This type of seating arrangement facilitates unhindered movie watching even from the last row. The chairs have high backs and you can even rest your arm on the handle. With the seating arrangement for only 120 people, the hall is a very small but a cozy one. You will get ample leg space even if you are tall. The Dolby Digital sound system ensures that you will hear the best quality sound no matter where you sit.

Cinema 2 is relatively large with seating arrangement for only 168 people. This auditorium too offers plenty of leg room, stadium seating arrangement and crystal clear sound quality by Dolby Digital sound system.

There are 200 seats in Cinema 3 and Cinema number 4 comfortably seats 220 people. All the other features mentioned for the other halls are the same.

The queen of all the auditoriums in Southbank Cinemas is Cinema 5. It is the biggest hall which provides seating arrangement for 500 people. The auditorium has massive curved stadium seating. Unlike other halls in this multiplex which have red and black interiors, this auditorium has blue interior. The screen is the biggest with 25 meter in diameter. The hall has latest sound system, that is, Dolby Ex installed. There is good news for the disabled. The hall has wheelchair access and you can even take a lift if you have purchased tickets for the top row.
