Brisbane, the capital of the Australian state of Queensland, is located on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Being the third largest city in Australia, and a very populous one, the city's transportation system constantly battles with the population pressure. Though there are several modes of transportation available (train service, ferry service, taxi service etc), the Brisbane Bus Service is often the first choice of the people.

Bus Service is the backbone of transportation in Brisbane and is a great way to explore this beautiful city. Run by both public and private bus operators, buses are very efficient and always operate on time. The bus services come under the jurisdiction of the Brisbane Transport Authority, which makes sure that proper guidelines are followed. However, the bus service to the regional areas, i.e. outside the perimeter of the city, is operated by private sector companies. Different bus services like the southeast bus-way, Brisbane bus-lines, bus charters and Brisbane region bus service are some of the bus services operated in the city.

All parts of this great city are linked by buses. Brisbane bus service, however, even extends to overseas destinations. From the Queen Street Bus Station, you can avail the bus service to head for both domestic as well as international destinations.

Brisbane North is served by bus numbers 193-199, 300-398 and 470. Routes numbered 100-198 serve Brisbane South. If you are planning to explore the eastern part of this beautiful coastal city, then get in either of the bus numbers 200-236. Bus route numbers 100-110, 115, 122-123 and 402-476 cover the western part of Brisbane. The inner city can be seen through bus numbers CDB Loop, 109, 193, 195, 196, 197 and 199.

If you are a tourist visiting the city for the first time, you can then explore Brisbane on independent bus services. Operating in every 5 minutes, the red-colored City Circle bus no 333, for example, tours around Brisbane round the clock. The fare is very reasonable.

The northern, eastern and southern corridors of Brisbane come outside the reach of the metropolitan train lines and can be reached by buses only. Two bus ways serve these parts, namely the South-East Busway and the Inner-Northern Busway.
