Cairns museum
The Cairns Museum, located in the School of Arts Building, displays a wide collection
of local history and aboriginal art. The history of cairns is presented beautifully
through pictorial and static displays that give you a fair idea. The full air-conditioned
museum with its spacious verandahs displaying various artifacts is visited by
school groups and tourists from abroad.
The Cominos House
Located at the Greenslopes Street, the Cominos museum is one of the oldest in
the city. The traditional Queenslander was built in the year 1877.
Shipwreck Museum
The museum displays a great number of collections of things that were used at
the time of explorations of the Great Barrier Reef. The museum is located at
the Pier Market place and is open daily from 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening.
Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Centre
The Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Centre houses a former RFDS aircraft
and also other range of medical instruments. The film 'A day in the life of
the RFDS' is also screened. The centre is open on all days except Sunday and
visitors are required to pay a minimal amount as admission fees.
