Located on the north western coastline of Australia, the Daintree National Park witnesses the confluence of the emerald green dense rainforests of Queensland and the cerulean waters of the South Pacific Ocean. Covering over 76,000 hectares, the park encompasses the oldest rainforest area in the world and is thus deemed World Heritage Site. The overgrowths and the biodiversity of the region are believed to have existed for more than 110 million years. Sandwiched between the Mossman Gorge and the Bloomfield River, this national park is famed for wildlife viewing and camping (Noah Beach) in Cape Tribulation, bird watching and studying the Aboriginal Culture in Mossman Gorge and the long stretch of rainforests, crocodile and bird watching in and around Daintree River. The Wet Tropics Management Authority is a dedicated institution pledged to protect and conserve these natural treasures of the country. Regions of national park are protected as these are the heritage sites and sites Aboriginal settlements. The Bouncing Beach deserves special mention as it is sacred to the Kuku Yalanji tribe. Besides the virgin mangrove forests, the diverse and multifarious flora and fauna of the region is certainly the greatest attraction. Although the rainforests have survived for ages, the national park here was founded in 1988.
