Sprawling over 25 hectares of lush rainforests and dense overgrowths, the Billabong Sanctuary is one of Australia’s largest and most renowned conservation grounds. Koalas and crocodiles, snakes and reptiles, wombats and dingoes and a wide variety of other animals make up the inmates of the Billabong Sanctuary. The affable staff is ever ready to answer your queries and turn the day into an educative experience. Besides conservation and awareness creation, the Billabong Sanctuary runs and extensive breeding program and this leads to a steady rise in the number of inmates. The innumerable birds and waterfowls that inhabit the grounds are the favorites with ornithologists and the experience of holding a koala, python, wombat or even a baby crocodile is simply fascinating. The kangaroos are very friendly and love being fed by the guests. The Southern Cassowary is among the favorite birds of these grounds. The Billabong Sanctuary has been developed into a complete family entertainment center, replete with Blinky Bill Café, a snack bar serving excellent meals; a souvenir shop, a barbeque and a swimming pool. Besides offering the grounds for weddings, corporate meets and such special occasions, the Billabong Sanctuary holds nocturnal walks on 6th May, 3rd June, 1st July, 5th August, 2nd September, 7th October and 11th November every year. Participating in such a walk is an enlightening experience and a memory to cherish.
