Popular legend As believed by the locals a beautiful girl named Oolana, who belonged to the Yidinji group, married Waroonoo. But another man named Dyga of another tribe soon came in her life. Realizing their crimes, the pair escaped but was captured by the people very soon. To avoid the rage, the girl jumped into the waters of later became the Babinda. It is believed that as Dyga fell into the still waters his cries and anguish turned the waters into a gushing torrent. Location The Babinda Boulders is located at a distance of 7 kilometers from Babinda. The spot is some 58 kilometers south of Cairns. Getting there You can take a Bruce Highway that would lead to the Babinda Boulders. It is always recommended to take adequate information before you visit the place. The pool sometimes gets flooded in the wet season. If you have an idea to hike to the placed then, take the Goldfield track, which stars at the Goldsborough Valley.
