The train services of Cairns are very regular and timely. Both the inter city and the intra city linkages are very well operated. The North coast Railway Lines, The Queensland Rail(QR), The Pacific national Queensland Railways, and The Kuranda Scenic Railway provides services to the city. The North coast Railway follows the eastern sea board from Brisbane. The Queensland Rail is especially meant for freight services. The electrified lines of North Coast Railway connects Gymphie, Bundaberg, Rockhampton and Townsville to Cairns. The Cairns line of the Queensland Railway is one of the oldest tracks of the country. It started operating from the year 1887, and also has the high speed tilt train. This is a special train which provides you with food and entertainment facility and its speed is much higher than the normal coaches. There are two classes of seats available : the economy class and the business class. Due to a disastrous accident recently the speed of the tilt trains have been limited to 100 kilometers per hour. The Kuranda Scenic Railway is another unique rail system of the city. Its actually a tourist rail which takes the visitors around the picturesque locale of the place. Cairns is also catered by a narrow gauge cane railway. Overall the city has a good train linkage system. One can easily come in and move around Cairns in trains of different variety.
