Inspired from the international markets in Hawaii and South East Asia, the Cairns Night Markets was initially established with the purpose of promoting the local traders of North Queensland among the enthusiastic tourist. Though it started with merely 28 vendors, in a short span of just six months it started flourishing vigorously and today it accommodates 130 stalls and from being a temporary open air market it got transcended into a permanent air conditioned center at the base of the Royal Harbour Hotel.
