The Gungahlin Lakes Golf Club lies north of the Canberra city centre in the suburb of Nicholls and is a fifteen minute drive from main Canberra. The Gungahlin Lakes Golf Club is a relatively new entrant into this field compared to other golf courses as it was established on 3rd of July in 1995. In fact it is still Canberra's newest course. As is obvious, the golf club is situated among the lakes of Gungahlin and its golf course is considered to be the most challenging ever. The Club's Lakes Restaurant is highly recommended and is famous throughout Canberra. The course facilities include a new bar and lounge, new function area and a new restaurant. The Golf course offers corporate golf facilities, spike bar, pro shop. The Gungahlin Lakes Golf Club features beautiful lakes, ponds and other water bodies which form challenging water carries across fairways and greens. Its 6198 meter, par 72 championship layout is often deemed as one of the most challenging golf courses in Canberra. The golf course is open to the public and its green fees are one of the more affordable rates offered in the city. Except on weekends the golf club charges $21 for an 18 hole game. The course is a soft spike course. The Gungahlin Lakes Golf club had a rather humble beginning but compensated by building a massive 4000 square meter club house in 1998. The club house features a dining area that can seat 270 people, an excellent outdoor barbeque area, ACTTAB betting facilities on the upper floors, Spike bar, Pro Shop and a special lounge for golfing members in the lower level. The Dining room of the club overlooks the pristine eighteen hole golf course and is the perfect place to unwind after an exhausting game. The course and Clubhouse is owned and operated by the Ainslie Football and Social Club. The golf club is run by a sub-committee of the AF&SC.
