Public transport in Canberra is virtually synonymous with the ACTION bus service which runs through all parts of Canberra and Australian Capital Territory and is an affordable mode on transportation. ACTION or the Australian Capital Territory Internal Omnibus Network provides transportation facilities throughout Canberra and the Australian Capital Territory. This bus service runs on regular routes through Canberra and is pretty affordable. The bus numbers 33, 34, 40 and 80 cover the popular tourist sights in the city ACTION's main bus stops are based around four town centre interchanges viz. that of City, Woden, Tuggeranong and Belconnen. One can avail a bus from any bus interchange or from any stop along the bus route by signaling the driver. Bus stops are easily identified. They are marked by a yellow sign board on a post with the words "Bus Stop" or a yellow wooden peg with the words "Signal Bus". ACTION's Flexibus service and other services can also be availed of by calling 13 17 10. Tourists can buy the Daily Ticket from any bus driver while boarding the bus, or from an ACTION ticket agent, including the Canberra Visitors Centre. The daily ticket provides you with unlimited travel on all of ACTION's bus services for the entire day. You can also get free timetable leaflets for all routes from ACTION bus interchanges.
