Canberra International Airport developed by the Capital Airport Group is a first class facility that serves the nations transportation needs. Being one of the main airports of the country it is connected to major capital cities worldwide and to major NSW centers internally through more than 120 flights per day. The Canberra International Airport is eight minutes from the city center, Parliament House and all major tourist attractions. Queanbeyan too is an eight minute ride away although from a different direction. The Airport undertook major renovation in 2001 especially the upstairs departure lounge which now has a Barton Bar. The departures lounge is located towards the centre of the terminal. One will need to pass through security screening and take the escalator or lift up to the first floor to enter the lounge. It is easy to kill time at Canberra International Airport if you have checked in early for a flight or are waiting for a passenger. The Airport offers superior quality food and beverage facilities. You could savor a leisurely meal or a coffee at the Ground Café, or sip a cocktail and watch the planes fly by from the upstairs bar and cafe. Qantas Club members can avail of the Qantas Club Lounge facilities by passing through security screening at the Qantas end of the terminal and going up to the first floor.
