The Canberra Baptist Church, Canberra is a famed destination in the capital city of Australia. It is part of the worldwide Christian movement which has many other denominations and churches enlisted in the progress. The church traces its history to way back in he 16th century continental Europe. The movement was renewed in the 17th century. Baptists have been a part of the Australian history right from the tome of the European settlement. The church is called the Baptist church as it baptizes those who have taken the decision of their own to become a proud member of the church. Canberra Baptist Church is located in the capital city of the country, Canberra. It was established on 17 October 1927 when the Chairman of the Federal Home Mission Board and Vice-President of the Baptist Union of Australia, The Rev.A.J.Waldock D.D. visited Canberra. During this visit the Reverent met 13 residents of Canberra and got the affirmation of serving the society through the establishment of the Baptist Church. Today, the church has become an important tourism spot which has earned an international repute. The church has been working with certain goals which have made it quite famous. These are: - GOAL A: Assist individuals in their Christian formation - GOAL B: Provide meaningful worship to cater for diverse needs - GOAL C: Encourage young people to become committed to Christ and active participants in the life of the Church - GOAL D: Engage in Christian outreach - GOAL E: Provide human and financial resources for the alleviation of need locally, nationally and internationally - GOAL F: Be good stewards of our church resources and plan for the future - GOAL G: Provide a strong Christian voice on social issues locally, nationally and internationally - GOAL H: Build a culture of care and provide mutual pastoral care and support in the Church community - GOAL I: Be committed to the wider church, develop ecumenical relationships and explore inter-faith relationships - GOAL J: Support families with children in their spiritual growth and participation in the life of the church
