The Australian Service Nurses Memorial, Canberra is situated on ANZAC Parade, the Principal Ceremonial and Memorial Avenue of Canberra, the capital city of Australia. This commemorative is a tribute to the past and present nurses of the Australian Defence Force, serving in the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army, and Royal Australian Air Force and related services. The Australian Service Nurses Memorial, Canberra is dedicated to the loving memory of Australian Service Nurses, with the following words reminding people of their selfless service. "In memory of Australian Service Nurses whose ultimate sacrifice, courage and devotion were inspiring to those for whom they so enthusiastically risked their lives. Their memory will also be our sacred trust." On 2nd October 1999, The Australian Service Nurses Memorial, Canberra was unveiled by His Excellency the Honourable Sir William Deane AC K.B.E. to symbolize 100 years of military nursing in Australia and to honour the nurses who served and suffered in war. The Australian Service Nurses Memorial, Canberra is made of cast glass and on the front wall of this memorial are inscribed the words, "beyond all praise". The memorial contains a patchwork of pictures and diary with the original handwriting. On the inner walls, the text and images are etched and cast, in a timeline order, depicting the history and contribution of Australian Service Nursing.
