The Canberra Irish Club truly believes in its motto of Cead Mile Failte or One Hundred Thousand Welcomes. This club is a nice friendly place with a relaxed atmosphere and a decidedly Irish feel. The Club was incorporated as an association in 1975 and in 1982 moved to Oatley Court, Belconnen ACT. In 1986 it moved to its current location at 6 Parkinson Street, Weston. The Club premises were expanded to create a members bar and dining facilities in 1991 and in 1994 further extensions of a new dining room, outdoor area and more bar space were completed. The Club boasts of a membership of 10, 000. The Canberra Irish Club conducts Specialty Theme Nights every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and the famed traditional Irish fare is offered every Sunday night from 6.00 p.m. Every Wednesday is also Seniors' Day at the club bistro. From 12 - 2pm seniors can enjoy half-price meals, including desserts. One will however need to have Seniors Card avail of this offer. The Irish Club Bistro serves a wide selection of superb meals. Its home-made pies are a specialty the club is known for. On Friday Nights one can avail of the scrumptious Steak Special priced reasonably at $8.00. Wednesday Nights give you the perfect meal of succulent schnitzels served with special sauces (at $8) to liven up a working day.
