The most interesting feature of this town center in Canberra, has been its shopping plaza.
The shopping mall with a supermarket and several other stores constitutes a heaven for shoppers in Gungahlin. Despite being smaller in size than all other malls in Canberra, the grandeur of the Gungahlin Shopping Plaza distinguishes it from the rest of the malls.
Gungahlin Town Center is not well developed. Construction work is still going on.
The town center is designed as a "street-based" region to bring all the suburbs under its domain. The plan for the town center was developed in consultation with the local people. However its execution has been delayed.
Besides the shopping plaza, Gungahlin Town Centre also houses a public library, community center, a sports club, numerous take away stores, a huge Magnet Mart hardware shop and the police and fire department.
The town center also offers a wide variety of amusement activities and medical services.
