Tuggeranong is a well-known town center in the Australian capital city, Canberra. This southernmost town center in Canberra stretches over an area of 117 square kilometers towards the eastern region of the Murrumbidgee River. It consists of 19 suburbs with around 30,662 residential houses, occupied by 86,637 natives of the Australian Capital Territory (as per the June 2001 Census). Tuggeranong town center forms the entrance of Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. This town center is famous for its huge shopping plaza. The Tuggeranong Shopping Plaza stands on the banks of Tuggeranong Lake, one of the four artificial lakes in Canberra. The shopping plaza offers a wide range of products and fulfills the needs of the locals. Among the several stalls in the Tuggeranong Shopping Plaza, Myers and K-Mart are worth mentioning. Besides its colorful shopping mall, the town center is also popular for its nightlife. The cafes, bars and restaurants in Tuggeranong offer different types of live entertainments to choose from. This region is particularly famous for Irish pub scene. Natives and tourists visiting the town center can also opt for fishing and sailing in the Tuggeranong Lake. If you don't find any interest in these activities, you can instead walk around the pathways encircling the beautiful lake. Cave paintings and primordial artifacts found in this region indicate that the region saw its first human settlement 21,000 years ago.
