Features of the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, Canberra:
- There are prehistoric rock shelters throughout the Reserve that are of spiritual significance to the aboriginal people. These include Bogong Cave, Birrigai Rock Shelter and the Hanging Rock Shelter. Some of these shelters are more than 21000 tears old.
- The Reserve contains grasslands, wetlands, dry forests and sub-alpine.
- The Reserve abounds in wildlife that includes Kangaroos, Lyebirds, Platypus, Possums, Emus and much more.
- There are interesting talk sessions held in every weekends that would enlighten you about Nature.
- There are special picnic spots and also Nature Discovery Playground for children.
- There is also a gift shop that sells clothe s, toys, books and other souvenirs. You can also have coffee or other small refreshments to rejuvenate yourself.
Much of the reserved land was destroyed by the terrible bushfire that took place in January 2003. However, the place is soon recovering form the mishap and it's still worth a visit by those who are keen to explore nature at its best!
