Darwin Botanic Gardens, Darwin or the George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens are bordered by the beautiful Fannie Bay and is situated over a low plateau and coastal plain. Before the development of Darwin Gardens, this landscape was covered with an Open Eucalypt Woodland that stretched up to the plateau and parts of the coastal plain.
Today, only some remnant representatives of the original vegetation remain along with the Mangrove community, which has increased due to drainage development. Apart from being a tourist destination in Darwin, Darwin Botanic Gardens also provide an avenue into the plant world for our enjoyment, scientific research, conservation and education.
