As the history beckons while the framing of the story Dreaming, the rainbow serpent chose a place on earth where the rainbow meets the earth. The rainbow serpent's eggs fossilized there and formed the famed Devils Marbles. It was the non-Aborigines who called them the Devil's marble; the Aborigines although called them as Karlukarlu. The Devil's marbles conservation reserve is among the spiritually significant and sacred site in Darwin for the Aborigines. Many stories and traditions have developed from the site. This conservation reserve forms one of the most attractive tourist spot of the city. Ironically the place is closer to Alice Springs than Darwin.
The devil's marbles are a huge collection of huge, red colored stones miraculously balanced one over the other are situated in the Tenant Creek region of Australia's Northern Territory. For more than millions of years these massive granite structures have been transformed into oval and spherical shape. The tourists are attracted by the miraculous balance of the stones over one another. These 'marbles', scattered over the place in a hyped form across the wide, shallow valley makes up the expansive 1,802 ha of area of Devils Marbles Conservation Reserve, Darwin. Located just 393 km north of Alice Springs, this unique marvel of nature is also known as Karlu Karlu (the Kaytetye name), or Karlwe Karlwe (the Warrumungu name).

The scientific findings reveal that the the marbles were formed from an expansion of the molten rock that solidified after cooling down beneath a layer of the sandstone. These solidified forms of the granites caused cracked structure which over the years and with the actions of wind and water transformed into round boulders of the present day.
A wide range of local flora and fauna have found shelter around these boulders like native Rock Fig and the Fairy Martins. The site is also the shelter for few of the local birds like the Zebra and Painted Finches.
